Where to go for sport?
The airport is about 7 minutes by car from the hotel and has the status of a public national airport. Basically all types of flying are available at the airport, from gliding, parachuting and ultralight flying to powered large machines. The successful Impact parachute school operates here. The airport offers sightseeing flights, skydiving and pilot training.
Kolín is an ideal place for trips on inline skates, bicycles and scooters. The trail along the Elbe is located less than a kilometre from the hotel, starting at Masaryk Bridge and ending at the tennis courts. It is about 2 km long and along it there are sports clubs, an outdoor gym and a 40 m Barefoot Trail. From the trail along the Elbe you can cross Borky Forest Park or follow the marked trail to Hradišťko, Veltruby, Velký Osek, reaching Libice nad Cidlinou, from which you can continue to Poděbrady and Nymburk.
Borky Forest Park is an ideal environment for walks and recreational running. It also includes a 4.5 km long nature trail that will take visitors through a forest landscape along the Elbe River. Borky is also a place for the little ones; there is a monument to the famous teddy bears who were to meet at Kolín and a playground.
Water World, located about 1.3 km from the hotel, offers a 25 m indoor swimming pool, a spacious 50 m outdoor pool, indoor and outdoor water slides, a triple slide, children’s and paddling pools, a relaxation pool, a wave machine, children’s slides, whirlpools and steam cabins. There is also a fitness centre, tennis courts, a beach volleyball court, salt cave, sauna, hot air, solarium, massage and swimming school for babies and toddlers.
Tennis courts are about 2 km away, in the beautiful surroundings of Borky Forest Park. In the summer season, the complex offers 9 clay courts, one artificial grass court and a 25 m long training wall. In winter, there is a solid hall with a carpet surface.
BC GEOSAN Kolín play in the top Czech basketball league, known under the sponsor’s name as the Kooperativa NBL. Home matches are in a hall that is part of the School of Informatics and Communications in Kolín, which is about 5 minutes by car from the Hotel Theresia.
The football ground is 1.6 km from the Hotel Theresia. Currently, SK Sparta Kolín’s A team plays in the Bohemian Football League, the third highest competition.
The 4,500-seat ice rink, where SC Kolín ice hockey club play their home games, is 1 km from the Hotel Theresia. Public skating takes place at the ice rink, and the public can also rent the ice.
Along the Elbe River there are also other sports facilities in Kolín, such as the T. J. Sokol Kolín athletic stadium, SK Volejbal Kolín, Handball Club Kolín and a football tennis court. The new multifunctional Borky Hall is located between the handball and tennis courts.
Kolín also offers well-equipped gyms such as Gym Cube located in Zálabí, close to all the above mentioned sports facilities (about 10 minutes’ walk).
Golf lovers can visit Poděbrady Golf Club. It is about 20 minutes’ drive from the Hotel Theresia. The 18-hole course offers a unique park course atmosphere with two alternative playing options. Par 70 without wooded holes and par 72 with them.
