Where to go?
A town with a rich history, 12 km from Kolín, it attracts visitors with its many interesting (UNESCO) monuments and cultural activities. The Sedlec Pilgrimage, one of the largest pilgrimages in the Czech Republic, takes place every year in Kutná Hora at the beginning of April; the town organises a Gastrofestival in May, and you can also visit the Kaňkovský Carnival, the Royal Silversmithing and the Night of Churches. The Regional Grape Harvest and Harvest Festival is held at Kačina Chateau near Kutná Hora every year in September.

This spa town, located about 18 km from Kolín, offers plenty of things to do. You can visit Poděbrady Castle, the Equestrian Monument to King George of Poděbrady, the Elbe Museum, the Film Legends Museum, the LEGO Museum and, in the summer months, also Lake Poděbrady. The spa town offers the Poděbradka mineral and healing spring, which you can try in the Spa Park. There are also many cultural events, such as the Sound Track Festival, Craft Beer Fest and the Street Food Picnic.
This picturesque town situated about 21 km from Kolín will pleasantly surprise you with places such as the Museum of Folk Buildings (skansen), the monument to the centre of Europe, the Church of St. Stephen with its unique, heart-shaped bells and the remains of medieval fortifications.
The high choir was built in 1360-1378 by the leading master builder Petr Parléř. He thus enriched Kolín with one of the most original works of Gothic architecture of the Luxembourg period. The bell tower offers a beautiful view of the town. There is an ossuary dating from 1732/33 and Bartholomew’s Hill near the church. It is about a 10-minute walk from us to the Church of St. Bartholomew.
The old Jewish cemetery, situated between Kmochova and Sluneční streets (5 minutes’ walk), contains over two and a half thousand tombstones. People were buried here until 1887. After the Old Jewish Cemetery in Prague, Kolín’s Old Jewish Cemetery is the second most important monument of its kind in Bohemia.
The Museum of Prehistory presents archaeological findings from the earliest periods of human history. Every year, the museum hosts a number of thematic short-term exhibitions, lectures and other accompanying programmes. The museum can be reached from the hotel by a nice walk of about a kilometre.
The restored oldest part of the Elbe route, the Beet Line, offers a pleasant trip by train pulled by a steam or diesel locomotive on a narrow-gauge line. It runs regularly on weekends and all public holidays from 20 April to the first weekend in October. The line is a 10-minute drive from the hotel.
The town’s dominant feature serves as a publicly accessible lookout tower, which, in addition to a beautiful view and access to the area of the former reservoir, offers thematically focused exhibitions and other interesting cultural programmes. The waterworks is about 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel. You can also extend your walk to the nearby Lake Peklo.
The monument is dedicated to well-known characters from the 1965 animated film An Encounter by Kolín by Břetislav Pojar. The monument, which consists of two large boulders and a relief of the two bears, was designed by the Kolín artist Pavel Rajdl. It is located on the edge of the Borky Forest Park in Zálabí, about 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel.
The memorial commemorates the bloody battle in 1757, when the Austrian army was victorious over the Prussians led by Frederick the Great during the Seven Years’ War. The memorial is about 5 minutes away by car.
